Praying

I’m sure numerous posts will be written about the events in Sandy Hook, CT.

I have family there, with two kids *in* elementary school. Thank the Gods, they attend the other school, and so are safe, having missed the horror. My cousin tells me the town is in shock, and asked for prayers.

I am praying.

I am praying for those who died. For those who lived. For those who are hurt. For those who are helping.

I am praying for an end to the pain. For killing others to become anathema,  not gesture.

I am praying.

Just now Shawna Carol’s “Mother’s Gift” began to play and her words seem to be comforting, yet I am crying.

There is no end to love

There are no doors that are closing

Dear one, lie you down

I will heal you

I will sweep you clean, clean

wash away your fear and worry

wash away the pain

wrap you in the Mother’s Gift of love.

This is not ‘God’s will’, no more than Hurricane Sandy was. This is human pain, wrapped in violence, doing evil. I am sure we will find out more about the young man who killed his mother before he killed 20 children (and 6 adults) and then took his own life. But we will never know enough to be able to explain what happened.

I am praying.
