Since my vacation . . .

Presenting for your admiration 🙂 . . .

Roland!

Kit!

They were cautious kitties at first, but Roland was soon purring like mad and playing with me.  Kit is a bit mor reserved. Sasha is *fascinated* by what is behind the closed door. She barked a couple of times, but has learned that we don’t allow that. So now she lies down with her nose right at the door sill and tries to sniff out what’s happening.

We showed everyone to each other yesterday afternoon. Roland was curious. Kit hissed and got puffy in my arms. We tried it again this morning with Sasha lying down and everyone was very calm; the cats were far more interested in what was behind Sasha — more rooms to explore.

The Saga of Finding a Dyer

Part of my plans for the wedding include re-purposing my original dress. The skirt is something like 4 yards of material, perfect for a simple dress, which is all I want nowadays. I thought I’d look good in a sapphire blue.

So, obviously, I needed to find a dyer (and a seamstress, but that was pretty easy) which is somewhat esoteric, but not outrageous. Right?

Birthday Reading, 2010

What do I Need to Know for the Upcoming Year (2010-2011)?

Center: 4 of cups

Those who enjoy kayaking and other river sports know that there are areas of the river where the water flows in a dangerous circular motion. Instead of moving forward, it turns back on itself. In the same way, we can get stuck in emotional hydraulics. The Four of Cups represents such periods of self-absorption.

Birthday Reflections, 2011

Each year I like to look back over the previous year, and then set goals for the coming year. Many people do this on Jan 1st; I prefer to do it on my birthday. I often refine the accomplishments and goals until my new year, Samhain, but the bulk of the work is done on or around my birthday. I also like to do a tarot reading (and other’s readings of me are ALWAYS welcomed).

Busy, just breathing

Yesterday was a travel day, after 8 days in New York City, which came barely a week after a long weekend in Philadelphia, which came barely two weeks after a week in palm Beach, Fl.

I’m tired of traveling.

But J. and I had a lot of fun, and some posts will be coming out over the next weeks that talk about some of th ethings I saw and felt while I was out and about.

For now: I’ve re-discovered something about myself. I love to dance. Specifically, I love tribal rhythms and a complicated beat, lyrics are optional. The music at Fuerza Bruta got me wiggling as soon as I hit the dance floor, about 10 mins prior to the performance. And I basically didn’t stop for the next hour +. I don’t jump, I don’t do splits, or fancy moves, but I got a good wiggle on, and I don’t really care what I look like, I feel amazing.

I’ve been feeling an urge to dance occasionally over the last few months, but haven’t given into it . . . felt too silly be-bopping around the house by myself, I guess. Now I’m thinking about trying to find music I like in Seattle and making a habit of going dancing.

A Birthday Weekend in SF

This last weekend I flew down to San Francisco to surprise my mom for her birthday. It was a huge success.

She came in to the door and my nephew met her with flowers. Then he peremptorily said ‘close your eyes, it’s a secret!’ She, being a good grandma, did, and he led her into the living room, where I waited. (She did bounce off the walls a bit, he wasn’t very good at leading her, I must say.) When she opened her eyes — the look on her face was priceless.

Big hugs, lots of happiness.
