Sasha Update: 13 months old

It’s been awhile since I posted any pics of Sasha as she is now. You may remember the ball of cuteness we got almost a year ago? Well, she’s definitely a dog now, all just-under 50 pounds of her. Apparently she just isn’t going to be very big, despite the fact that she manages to take up a good third of our king-size bed at night.

She just came home from a weekend at the kennel (Soos Creek, if you must know). She isn’t unhappy there, but doesn’t think it’s the best thing in the world. We’re not thrilled either, but there aren’t always alternatives as we travel via airplane in multiple connections. She’d be a WRECK if we tried to take her everywhere we go. It’s one reason we’re driving to SF for Turkey Time, she can be with us and we don’t mid the drive. (At least in theory.)

Without further prattling, here’s a link to the pics.

Weekly Silliness: Which Tarot Card Am I?

(surprise, surprise)

You are The High Priestess

Science, Wisdom, Knowledge, Education.

The High Priestess is the card of knowledge, instinctual, supernatural, secret knowledge. She holds scrolls of arcane information that she might, or might not reveal to you. The moon crown on her head as well as the crescent by her foot indicates her willingness to illuminate what you otherwise might not see, reveal the secrets you need to know. The High Priestess is also associated with the moon however and can also indicate change or fluxuation, particularily when it comes to your moods.

Weekly Silliness: Management, American Style

(my boss sent me this today)

“Japanese vs. American management style

Two teams of American and Japanese corporations have a boat race. On the big day the Japanese win by a mile.
The discouraged Americans hire a consulting firm to investigate the problem. The findings are that the Japanese team had eight people rowing and one person steering while the American team had one rower and eight people steering. Based on these results, the American team is completely reorganized to include four steering managers, four steering area managers and a new performance review system for the person rowing the boat to provide work incentive.

The following year the Japanese win again, so the Americans lay off the rower for poor performance and give the manager a bonus for discovering the problem.”

Weekly Silliness: What DnD Character Am I?

You Are A: True Neutral Human Druid (5th Level)

Ability Scores:
Strength- 11
Dexterity- 12
Constitution- 15
Intelligence- 18
Wisdom- 13
Charisma- 12
Alignment:
True Neutral- A true neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. He doesn’t feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most true neutral characters exhibit a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil after all, he would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, he’s not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some true neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. True neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion. However, true neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it represents apathy, indifference, and a lack of conviction.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class:
Druids- Druids gain power not by ruling nature but by being at one with it. They hate the unnatural, including aberrations or undead, and destroy them where possible. Druids receive divine spells from nature, not the gods, and can gain an array of powers as they gain experience, including the ability to take the shapes of animals. The weapons and armor of a druid are restricted by their traditional oaths, not simply training. A druid’s Wisdom score should be high, as this determines the maximum spell level that they can cast.

Amusingly, I’ve never played a true neutral or druid character.

Adult Vaccinations

I had a physical the other day, and it included a tetanus shot. Ow. I can’t lift my arm above shoulder height, my neck is getting stiff, and I seem to have odd numbness down my arm.

Ow.

It’s now on my usual 3-day rule: if it still bothers me, or is worse after three days, I’ll see a doctor. Most things go away before then, or are serious, so its a good rule for me.

Ow.

(Oh, and I seem to be in pretty good shape. We’ll see what turns up in the labwork.)
